UNIFORM

Please note: Knitting class is full; 2 spaces remain in the tunic class. This fall, we're offering a class, in collaboration with Marji's Yarncrafts in Granby, based on the new book, Uniform. This book contains a pattern for a very customizable go-to cardigan sweater in two weights, and a lovely also-customizable sewn tunic that you can make again and again. We are offering a 6-week class which will alternate between sewing and knitting, so that you can make your own "uniform!"

Learn to Quilt II

Build on skills learned in the Beginning Quilting class! Although this class is designed to build on the techniques taught in the beginning class, it's suitable for anyone comfortable with a rotary cutter and a 1/4" seam. The techniques introduced in this class are designed to be more challenging.

Learn to Quilt!

Make your first quilt! You'll learn fabric selection, rotary cutting, piecing, machine quilting and binding. Eight sessions beginning May 10.

This class differs from Ruler Work 101 in several ways. The sampler is smaller in size and has fewer designs, but will give enough variety to learn how to use six different Westalee templates. This class will be the groundwork you need to be able to progress on to Ruler Work 101 successfully!

Stepping Stones: Your First Quilt

This class is for everyone - whether you've never quilted and want to learn, or if you already quilt. You will learn how to prepare the quilt top, resize and apply designs, select batting and backings, baste, and all about threads, needles and tension. Bring a finished top, if desired, to discuss ideas and approaches to finishing your quilt.

Long Arm Machine Quilting Basics

This class removes the mystery of longarm quilting by explaining machine and frame elements and features, how to load a quilt, and vital facts about thread, needles and tension.

Sit-Down Machine Quilting Basics

Ruler Work 101 (Domestic)

Domestic Quilting Templates allow you to free motion quilt on any domestic sewing machine! In this hands-on class, you will work on a whole cloth sampler using the Westalee six piece Sampler Template Set 1 and the arc template included with your Westalee ruler foot.

Improv Map Quilts

Serging 101

Take your serger out of the closet and come to class to learn how to operate your machine. In class we will create a book of all the many samples you will make with your serger. Learn to put a rolled hem on the edge of a scarf or make simple napkins. Put a ribbed collar on a neckline, apply elastic to the waist of pants. You will sew on knits with great ease. There are many stitch possibilities and applications. You will accomplish all stitches and become very familiar with your serger!

Making Faces

From beginning quilters to precision piecers and award-winning art quilters, all kinds of students have taken and loved Melissas's classes. Her warm and relaxed teaching style quickly puts students at ease with something they have probably never done before. She breaks the faces down to simple shapes and proportions that anyone can learn. Melissa's approach will help you let go of perfection, get out of your comfort zone (painlessly!), learn something new and most importantly, have fun!

Class Info & Policies

A 15% discount will be given for all supplies purchased for your class.
We hate to cancel a class, but reserve the right to do so, should the minimum enrollment not be met (usually 3 students). If this happens, a full refund will be given.
If you're not able to make a class that you've registered for, you must notify us one week prior to the class at which time a store credit will be issued.
If we have less than 1 week notice, a credit will be given only if the slot can be filled from the waiting list.

Skill Levels:
Beginner – No quilting or sewing experience required. Suitable for the first time quilters or those who desire a review of basic quilting skills.
Advanced Beginner – Student has some experience with rotary cutting and general sewing skills. Pre-class work such as cutting may be required.
Intermediate – Student is comfortable with rotary cutting skills and achieving a ¼" seam allowance.
Advanced – Student has experience in rotary cutting, machine piecing, appliqué, machine quilting, and more difficult piecing techniques.
When you take a class at Sew Inspired, we'll give you the basic concepts and all the technique instructions for the project. In many cases, you will not be able to finish the entire project during the class time(s). You will however, have plenty of time to learn how to make the block, or use the techniques taught, to confidently finish your project at home.
