New Class Added!

backbasting.jpg Back Basting Applique

Back basting applique is a needle turn technique that uses no templates! The pattern is marked on the wrong side of the background material. Using these lines as sewing lines, applique pieces are basted to the front. The basting lines become the guide for the needle turn sewing. This is a great technique that Betsy is excited to share with you! Requires some hand applique experience. Join us in April. (See Skill Builders on our website.)

A Quilter's Palette...

paintbox3.jpgThink of Lonni Rossi's new series as a palette...

... colors and textures designed to mix and blend with other fabrics (though we think they'd look spectacular together and can't wait to see Deb R's bargello color wheel!). My daughter has recently taken up painting with acrylics and part of the thrill is caressing the tubes and squeezing out bits of each color and mixing them together - something we quilters can relate to!

These collector boxes of the bright palette are available now and the mid tones and pastels will be coming later this spring.

Hoppy Spring?

bunny.jpg

Well, not quite. The recent snow made spring seem even further away. But, Easter really is right around the corner. And, these adorable Hoppy Spring fabrics from Clothworks are funnier than last year's Dipped Chicks. Even cuter still is our little Yo-Yo bunny, happily perched by these fabrics waiting for spring. Haven't joined the yo-yo craze? This may well be the project that changes that... just ask Heidi!

Get Your Beads...

beads.gif It's that time again!

We had such fun with our Mardi Gras beads last year we're doing it again. Yes, you can choose your color. No, you don't have to actually wear them when you come in for the frenzy - but you do need to produce them for your free gift! What are we talking about? It's our third annual Fat Tuesday, Fat Quarter Frenzy and it starts Tuesday, February 5th. Buy 10, get ten. And we'll have thousands. But, only a few hundred beads so get 'em (starting this Saturday) while the color selection is still good!

Back to Basics

10531_asst.jpgNew Neutrals from Michael Miller!

After receiving so many bright and colorful fabrics over the last few weeks, the arrival of the new basic group from Michael Miller was a little strange... these 20 fabrics range from white to cream to latte. Yum. So what can you do with all those basics? We like the quilts in Alex Anderson's Neutral Essentials. Michael Miller also has a few projects on their website. Check out the latte log cabin. Yum again. (Can you tell I like coffee?)

Happy New Year!

From all of us at Sew Inspired

The last few days have been a whirlwind of activity in the shop - our major year-end sale, a class full of teens making PJ pants, numerous samples being completed and hung and a shuffling of fabric and displays to usher in the new year! Please pardon our appearance as we prepare for some exciting new events. In early 2008, we're revamping our wool display and adding more products for felting. We're adding wool bundles from Wild Thymes and fiber packs from Treenway Silks. Our reproduction department is getting a makeover, too. Lots of new juvenile fabrics are arriving including the Hungry Caterpillar group from Andover/Makower. Be sure to check out all our upcoming events on our website - www.sewinspiredquilts.com - and visit here often for up-to-date news on fabric arrivals!
